Gift Policy
This policy was created to establish a uniform policy relating to the acceptance of gifts, including gratuities or rewards. Employees shall not solicit or accept for personal benefit directly or indirectly any gift, loan, discount or any item of substantial monetary value from any person or company that is seeking to conduct or is currently conducting business with DWG. Employees should consult with their LOB leader on the appropriateness of any gift exchange.
Exceptions for Gift Policy
Any gift that of the nature of food, entertainment or accommodation of reasonable value up to ___ less than (percent of annual salary)% of the employee’s annual salary.
Any mementoes or souvenirs.
Any gift under the value of ___.
Any gift in the form of donation or charity.
Any gift accepted with prior approval of the LOB leader.
Any gift received as a team.
Any gift received as a member of the public.
However, the exemptions above will not stand true if the LOB Leader feels that such gifts may influence the employee’s decision making or be perceived unfair by other employees.
Procedure of the Gift Policy
On receiving any such gift that does not fulfill this policy, the employee shall politely request their giver to take it back. This should also be informed about to the LOB leader. In such a case where it is impractical or discourteous to return the gift, the employee may delay and surrender the gift to Human Resources as soon as possible.
If the giver or the gift is anonymous, it should be handed over to the LOB Leader who may treat the gift as a charity or donation.
In circumstances where the gift involves gifts such as meals or trips, the employee may accept this only with the prior permission of the LOB leader. However, such actions should not influence business decisions.
Treatment of Food Items Received as Gifts
Any gift received that is edible in nature should be shared amongst all the employees. In the case of perishable food items, it should be shared by the employee. In the case of non-perishable food items, employees who are absent at the time should be rendered with their share whenever they are present the next time.
Non-Compliance with this policy may result in disciplinary actions such as being written up.
